Latina, “città nuova”, “senza mura”, fondata nel 1932 (con il nome di Littoria al centro delle Paludi Pontine bonificate), è abitata oggi da più di 120.000 abitanti. Capoluogo della Provincia Pontina costituita nel 1934 sul luogo delle antiche Paludi oggetto di Bonifica integrale ad opera di Benito Mussolini e delle quali ne evoca ancora oggi la preesistenza ambientale the Circeo National Park.
